4 Keys To Delivering Constructive Employee Feedback

4 Keys To Delivering Constructive Employee Feedback | Business Brainpower with the Human Touch | Scoop.it

It's nauseating to see a leader avoid giving negative feedback because they're afraid of hurting someone's feelings. They do so because they might receive negative feedback themselves that they were too direct in delivering their message. So rather than going the direct route, they water down their message until it's a mealy-mouthed stream of meaningless jargon.

Do you want to follow a leader who doesn't speak his or her mind? Someone who is more concerned with how their actions will be perceived rather than saying what they really think? Do you want to follow a leader who is more interested in doing nothing wrong and hence not doing much of anything? Or would you rather follow someone who takes a stand for what they believe in and suffers the consequences as appropriate?

Vicki Kossoff @ The Learning Factor's insight:

Leaders have to stop avoiding conflict and sidestepping tough feedback. Instead, accept that sometimes delivering pointed feedback is in everyone's best interest.

Inside The 2014 Forbes 400: Facts And Figures About America's Wealthiest

Inside The 2014 Forbes 400: Facts And Figures About America's Wealthiest | Business Brainpower with the Human Touch | Scoop.it

Thanks to a buoyant stock market, the richest people in the U.S. just keep getting richer. That has made it harder than ever to join the ranks of the 400 wealthiest Americans. The price of entry to The Forbes 400 this year is $1.55 billion, the highest it’s been since Forbes started tracking American wealth in 1982. Last year it took $1.3 billion to score a spot. Because the bar is so high, 113 U.S. billionaires didn’t make the cut.

It’s Better to Start a Business While You’re Employed Elsewhere: Study

It’s Better to Start a Business While You’re Employed Elsewhere: Study | Business Brainpower with the Human Touch | Scoop.it
Professors Joseph Raffiee and Jie Feng at the University of Wisconsin-Madison found that “hybrid” entrepreneurs – people who maintain their regular gig and while launching their new ventures in stages – are a third less likely to fail than those who jump in sans safety net.

Additionally, they maintain that hybrid business owners who transition to full-time self-employment “have much higher rates of survival relative” to those who quit their job and then directly start a new company. There is always a factor of risk when launching a new venture, but the study purports that you don’t need to thrive on risk in order to be effective.

One Question That Can Determine Sales Leader Success

One Question That Can Determine Sales Leader Success | Business Brainpower with the Human Touch | Scoop.it

The success of a sales leader is dependent on two things. The first is strategy and the second is execution. When it comes to strategy, you need to make sure you have the right one. Part of having the right strategy is aligning your sales resources correctly.

Do you have the Right Rep in the Right Territory?

It seems like an easy question to answer, but is it? In our Annual Research Report we cover the process of creating a winning sales strategy. One of the keys is organizational design. When evaluating or building your sales organization, you need to follow a sequence. This sequence will keep you away from common pitfalls. Here is how the top 10% of sales leaders build their sales team.

Is Every Lie ‘a Sin’? Maybe Not

Is Every Lie ‘a Sin’? Maybe Not | Business Brainpower with the Human Touch | Scoop.it

“Are Liars Ethical?: On the Tension between Benevolence and Honesty,” the authors looks at deception a little differently than people have in the past. They look at deception that sometimes can be helpful to other people. They typically think about deception as selfish deception: I lie to gain some advantage at the expense of somebody else. And we typically think of honesty as something that might be costly to me, but helpful to others.

Vicki Kossoff @ The Learning Factor's insight:

Is every lie a sin? See what the research says.

Ellen Naylor's curator insight, September 26, 11:50 AM

According to co-author, Maurice Schweitzer, a Wharton professor of operations and information management, "When we, for example, tell a client that we’re going to go with a different vendor, sometimes we want to phrase things in a way that is different from the complete unvarnished truth. We find that we often really care about the benevolence that people signal through their communication and that’s often more important than the harsh and complete truth."

This is yet another reason why you do win loss analysis interviews. Customers often don't want to tell the sales person fully the reasons they went with a competitor, and didn't choose your solution. They will be more comfortable telling a neutral 3rd party this information who wasn't involved in the sale, whether this is a consultant or a non sales interviewer from your company.

Manuel Jorge García's curator insight, September 26, 5:37 PM

Would you tell a lie if it implies to avoid a problem?

rodrick rajive lal's curator insight, September 30, 4:36 AM

This is such a subjective question and open to infinite numbers of interpretations. Take for example the question of whether a lie would be a sin if it didn't harm anyone and ended up in good. Do the ends justify the means? Is it O.K. to lie if it would save a life? My answer would be that there is no single correct answer. We live in a world with shades of grey and not blacks and whites!

How Do Trustworthy Leaders Behave?

How Do Trustworthy Leaders Behave? | Business Brainpower with the Human Touch | Scoop.it
It can be easy to trust too quickly, especially when a leader is affable, has an impressive résumé, and tells you what you want to hear. In 30 years of surveying senior executives, social psychologist Roderick Kramer has found that 8 out of 10 report being burned at least once because they trusted too much or put their faith in the wrong person at some point in their careers.

It’s important for an organization to build trust among workers for several reasons, says Kramer. Employees who know they can trust their leaders are happy workers who believe in what they are doing. Creating this trust from within can also lead to public trust. “A lot of leaders talk about public trust, then they focus on the impression-management side of things,” says Kramer, “it’s much more important to establish genuine trust within your organization, which leads to trustworthy performance, which then builds over time into a public reputation of being trustworthy.”

The Church cannot succeed if it, isolates itself, Not only must Christians reach out to Muslims and other faiths in the spirit of ecumenism, but there is a need to embrace other people of different philosophical convictions. This requires ideological tolerance, maturity and self assurance in what one believes in. Such coalition building is made easier by choosing issues that unite organizations and movements and which have less potential causing divisions. At the same time we need an honest and inventive method of dealing with differences. The global movement for economic justice relies considerably on policy analysis and research conducted by hundreds if not thousands of academics researchers and scholars. ?Our consequences of the changing power relations in today's world is that there is more room in the public sphere for the affirmation of collective values and principles, experience proves that an informed public opinion can be powerful today, and can change governments public and international agendas. Again Churches are challenged to make use of this opportunity. They need to read the signs of time and to make their voices heard by responding to peoples cries for justice and dignity, and by speaking truth to the powers- whoever and wherever their may be. ?Christians do not have ready made answers and solutions to propose. The Bible offers guidelines (love, sharing, justice for the poor) but does not defined one "Christian" economy or "Christian" politics. ?Churches and Church related organizations can initiate public debates and largely use media means to reach a broader constituency, furthermore, regional thematic discussions can be facilitated with the ecumenical family. WCC should develop specific analysis depending on the context. ?What are theological implications for commodification common goods? ?How shall we ensure the participation all people in managing common goods in the world? ?How do we deal with power imbalances in the world? ?How can the ecumenical family engage itself effectively and in a coherent and convincing way in addressing global power imbalance? ?How can WCC lead a climate change campaign with social justice as a focus? ?What kind of collective values can be draw for the Churches to guide them in addressing the problem of commodification of common goods? ?The above questions have been answered in our research materials available at http://www.goldenduas.com and alsohttp://www.facebook.com/research of international development solutions and the same are to be discussed by the Churches, public and all its organizations in the interest of public safety, peace, unity, health, wealth, faith, interfaith ?                 Under this circumstances, it is just and necessary that UK, USA, Cambridge, Churches on the International Affairs are requested to accept our research paper and also our research organization as an organization under other faith category to assist the commission to achieve its goal of International Peace and climate changes solutions for the benefit of world community especially Christians, Jewish and Muslims, under the by-law 3.11 of CCIA. In view of the aforementioned submissions in the interest of maintenance of International Peace and Security, UN may be pleased to authorize our organization in the name and style of` Research on International Development Solutions `and also our research report in confirmatory with U/A 96 of the present Charter read with U/A 23 of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and thus render Justice.  Now, Palestine Muslims are fighting with Israel , both countries are affected and innocent people are killed frequently which is against the Quranic verses 7:137 & 5:33 that no one can claim Israel Government areas which is a place of Israel People but not Muslim or Christian and they can only Allow worship in the Holy Places of Israel . These facts has not been Discussed for amicable solutions of social justice and common good by United Nations to respect Gods word . It is pertinent to note that why the jewish people are affecting the Muslims is mention the Quran 7:167 ? And the same should be taken into consideration by jewish people in the world in the interest of social justice and common good on the light of the research paper posted  at our website www.goldenduas.com and render justice.  Your successU. Rumblings of discontent about executive wages, the 1%, and wealth gaps know no borders. And neither does fierce debate about income inequality in general. But until now, it’s been relatively unclear how much people think CEOs should really make compared to other workers on a global scale.

Why We're More Likely To Remember Content With Images And Video (Infographic)

Why We're More Likely To Remember Content With Images And Video (Infographic) | Business Brainpower with the Human Touch | Scoop.it

If you want someone to remember your message--in a presentation, an article, or a report--tell them a story.

Our brains are far more engaged by storytelling than a list of facts--it’s easier for us to remember stories because our brains make little distinction between an experience we are reading about and one that is actually happening. And while we've covered the importance of storytelling before, there is another element that can drive your point home even more--images. That's because visuals add a component to storytelling that text cannot: speed.

This article is interesting when it comes to social media marketing. It is important for marketers to be aware that consumers remember stories easier then lists of facts, because when marketers are choosing how to market their products they should consider this article and the information it has to offer. I agree with the fact that i remember stories more frequently then lists of facts when it comes to marketing and advertising and even when studying for school.
